At first glance, you wouldn’t peg me as someone with a thing for glitter. I regularly forego mascara, don’t own foundation and often macgyver my brows into place and call it a day.
A glamazon, I am not.
My friend Caitlin, on the other hand, is luminescent, polished perfection. Fluttery lashes. Iridescent lids. Cheekbones highlighted just so.
Like yin and yang, we have completely opposite cosmetic philosophies. And yet.
We both love glitter.
(I know, I know. Who would’ve thought?)
My fondness stems from an “If-i’m-wearing-makeup-it-might-as-well-sparkle” approach. Caitlin, meanwhile, favors its light-reflective properties—the way it adds dimension and drama to her carefully applied look.
You can imagine our excitement, then, when Free People decided to formulate its own shimmer—a vegan, cruelty-free one formulated with mineral-based shimmer and moisturizing birch juice. (You could almost hear my heart cheer!)
The better news? It’s formulated with mineral-based shimmer (read: no ocean-damaging plastic), non-drying birch juice, soothing witch hazel and refreshing spearmint flower water. A far cry from other toxic glitters out there.
For me, its endless versatility, be it a swipe on my cheekbones or a dab on my cupid’s bow, solidified it as a multiuse workhorse—yes, even on the days I forego mascara. For Caitlin, it’s layer-it-on appeal allowed for glamorous looks and everyday wear alike.
So, in the spirit of sparkle, we decided to showcase all the ways you can wear it. We really dove in.
Thought you couldn’t pull off glitter? Well, think again.
